Our association's website is being built.

Peace capability as a trainable competence.

Friedenspraxis is a non-profit association in Vienna. We work with children, young people and adults to train the core competence for successful coexistence: the ability to endure contradictions and navigate them productively — within oneself, with others and in society.

Our foundational stance

Peace is not the absence of tension, but the ability to remain regulated, capable of acting and in relationship within tension.

We work evidence-based, hands-on and ideologically neutral. Our approach is dialectical: we don't dissolve contradictions, we learn to act with them. Self-assertion and empathy. Setting boundaries and staying in relationship. Enduring conflict and cooperating.

What we are setting out to do

The association pursues non-profit purposes (§§ 34 ff Austrian Federal Fiscal Code) and promotes peace capability at all levels of human coexistence — individual, interpersonal and societal. Concretely:

  • Competence trainings for children, young people and adults to strengthen self-regulation, ambiguity tolerance and cooperative competence
  • Promoting democratic discourse culture and societal cohesion
  • Intercultural competence and contributions to successful integration
  • Education and continuing training of trainers, educators and multipliers
  • Scientific support and evaluation of all activities

Planned offerings

Our starting offering is a workshop series for lower-secondary students — four modules building on each other: perceive → regulate → communicate → cooperate. From there we will gradually expand: parent workshops alongside the school series, teacher training, train-the-trainer programmes, workplace conflict prevention, civic education and intercultural trainings.
